Vintage Stavre Gregor Panis Sterling Seahorse Brooch. Signed SGP STERLING on the back. Hammered etched detailing. Measures 1 1/2" high x 3/4" across. Features a safety clasp. In very good vintage condition with light wear and could benefit from a polish.
Stavre Gregor Panis (1889-1974) was an Albanian artist active in the USA. Together with his wife, Gladys Hamilton Panis (1900-2001), they were silversmiths and jewelers based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. They produced a significant amount of fine work. Their silver jewelry is characterized by intricately pierced and chased geometric or nature-based details, giving it a distinctly recognizable look and feel.
