The Shure WA661 is an inline mute switch built for one Shure bodypack transmitter and any lavalier or headset microphone that uses a TA4F plug. By placing it between the microphone and the transmitter, you gain an immediate, silent way to cut the mic whenever you step offstage, take a private conversation, or need to reduce room noise.
The switch features a two-position toggle with a firm, tactile feel, so you can confirm the status by touch alone. When set to mute, the circuit applies more than 100 dB of attenuation, removing the signal instead of just lowering it and doing so without the clicks or pops that usually accompany electrical switching.
It continues to pass bias voltage to keep condenser microphones powered. A shielded cable that measures 22 inches gives you enough slack to position the switch where it is comfortable while also protecting the audio from interference. The housing is machined from aluminum for durability, and a belt clip made of metal can be reversed to suit left-handed or right-handed placement.
In theater productions, houses of worship, corporate presentations, and broadcast work, the WA661 lets talent control the mic without touching the transmitter. Because it works with any Shure TA4F lavalier or headset microphone, engineers can add it to an existing wireless setup in seconds.
